Geo-Authentic Chinese Herbs

Geo authenticherbs

Those who enjoy wine will be familiar with the concept of “terroir”: that temperature, humidity, soil, terrain, and micro-climate all affect the grapes used to make the wine. Likewise, in the growing of Chinese herbs, “terroir” might aptly be called geo-authenticity.

Geo-authenticity has a direct correlation to potency because the environmental conditions affecting the plant are considered part of the nature of the herb. In TCM, sometimes the term used for this is Di Dao (authentic source). Di Dao means that it is always preferable to select Chinese herbs from wildcrafted or cultivated geo-authentic sources rather than non-native environments for both potency and authenticity.

“Our enduring partnerships with growers in that region guarantee consistency in the quality of the botanical delivered to you over time. You quite literally know where your herbs come from.”

How important is traceability to you?

One of the powerful benefits of geo-authenticity is that once we identify a pure source of an herbal product, our enduring partnerships with growers in that region guarantee a consistent quality of botanical delivered to you over time. You quite literally know where your herbs come from. When you consider your own business and customers, isn’t that important to you?

When managed sustainably and with a long-term view, these geo-authentic growing regions can be protected and preserved as sources of medicinal herbs for future generations. When you purchase your herbs from us, you are partnering in a win-win situation: we are able to supply you with high-quality botanicals, and you have a direct hand in preserving these plants in their native environment for many years to come.
