2008 Participating Schools

nuherbs Co. wishes to thank everyone who contributed to our nuherbs Co. Chinese Medicine Scholarship Program. These scholarships recognize the future leaders of our growing Chinese Medicine community in the United States. Your support is integral to the success of our Scholarship Program. Without your participation, our scholarship program would not be possible. Together, we are building the future of Chinese Medicine in America.

This year students at 43 acupuncture schools across the nation participated and over 250 applications were reviewed. Criteria was based on students' written response to a short essay question. Scholarships are awarded specifically to assist with tuition at an Acupuncture institution accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Every participant received a $30 gift certificate from nuherbs Co.

To be eligible, you must be a current student with a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 and attend a participating school. Visit 2009 nuherbs Chinese Medicine Scholarship page to find out more information.

2008 nuherbs Co. Chinese Medicine Scholarship Judges:

    John O'Connor, President of Eastland Press. Mr. O'Connor studied Chinese language and history at the University of Oregon (B.A., 1971), University of Illinois (M.A., 1977), Taiwan Normal University, and the University of Hong Kong. His collaboration with Dan Bensky on the translation and publication of Chinese medical books began during the course of their studies in Macau between 1973-75. Acupuncture: A Comprehensive Text .

    He and Eastland press are responsible for many of the text used in Acupuncture and TCM in the US and other English speaking countries.

    Dr. Li Xu. Dr. Xu has been in the Chinese Medical field for more than 13 years. After she graduated from Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine in China (HLJUCM), she became intensively involved in the teaching, studying and research of Chinese Medicine. In 2003 she was awarded a Masters Degree in Chinese Medicine after conducted her research on treating Hepatitis C patients with Chinese herbs. Dr. Xu strengthened her skills in acupuncture as well as participating in clinical work in various hospitals. She completed her PhD in Acupuncture at HLJUCM after her research on treating HIV/AIDS by Acupuncture. Currently she teaches OB/GYN, Differentiation of Disease, Point Energetic, supervises the clinics for the Santa Fe and Albuquerque Campus and is the current Campus Director of Albuquerque campus at Southwest Acupuncture School.

    Mr. Wilson Lau, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, nuherbs, Co. Mr. Lau is responsible for reinstating the nuherbs Co. Scholarship Program. As the third generation involved in nuherbs, Co he has been involved in herbs and Chinese Medicine since infancy. He is currently holds a seat on the board of the American Herbal Products Association. Mr. Lau can be seen at most major trade shows and conferences promoting Chinese Medicine.


About nuherbs Chinese Medicine Scholarship Program:

    Reintroduced in 2007 this industry first scholarship program initially ran from 1999 to 2001. Through this scholarship program, nuherbs Co. has pledged its ongoing support to the future of Chinese Medicine and this beautiful heritage of healing.
